Bringing music therapy to Cove with University of Roehampton

The Cove team had a workshop with music therapists and other specialists at the University of Roehampton in their fantastic music therapy department.

Our goal was to identify some of the specific problems in delivering digital mental health care, and to quickly create solutions around new digital music therapy practices.

In a very short time, we rapidly identified issues that persist across many care settings - around privacy, safety and therapy practices - and creatively responded to them with some wild and exciting ideas.

This is the first step in a longer collaboration with therapists and specialists at Roehampton, we hope to work with them closely on the next development of Cove!

We’re really proud to say that Cove has been included into the Parkinson’s UK ‘apps and devices’ programme that they have created for their users.

Their approved apps and devices can help with the day to day management of Parkinson's. Cove can be used to manage your wellbeing. Jo, who was diagnosed in 2014 said:

“"I enjoyed using Cove. Other than listening to music I'm not creative and don't play an instrument. Using this app was like being a child again and trying out different effects – playing in its true sense. It is absorbing and helps me to put my anxieties aside.

"I would happily continue using Cove, especially in situations where distraction techniques would be helpful ie when travelling. I would definitely recommend it.""

Cove was independently reviewed and assessed as part of this process. You can read more about it (here).
